Psychoanalysis

"The fundamental Freudian notion that human beings are inherently irrational actors influenced even early versions of behavioural economics. Mastering analytical terminology symbolized membership in an intellectual elite."

It is a shame to make a comparison with economics which is only superficial ("intrinsically irrational"). Behavioural economics, on the contrary, points to the limited rationality of decisions (Bounded rationality), what does that mean? The opposite of psychoanalysis. The study of cognitive biases at the origin of partially irrational decisions relies on hypothesis testing. Psychoanalysis is based on the supposed functioning of the brain according to a theoretical schema which must be accepted. This is very different and relegates psychoanalysis to the set of revealed theories that Popper defined as unfalsifiable. This is one of the examples of serious misconceptions in this apology for a practice inherited from an old, outdated psychiatrist.
