Why CEO earn more than super skilled surgeons?

More competition is needed. But there is a striking difference in the mechanism of selection. Look at the shortage of skilled physicians which does not translate in a better income! The main reason is simple:  volume and not results is the main determinant of physician income. A CEO with high sales and even small losses is discarded. This will change drastically in the next years. The second is leverage. Even a super skilled surgeon with a very good organization of dedicated ORs has a small leverage compared to a CEO of a great company.
